Deal Announcement: THE STEPPING OFF PLACE by Cameron Kelly Rosenblum
Trigger Warning/Content Warning: Suicide / Grief / Mental Illness
I am delighted to announce children’s librarian Cameron Kelly Rosenblum’s debut YA novel, THE STEPPING OFF PLACE which is planned for publication by HarperCollins in Summer 2020. I knew this project was special from the moment I read the first 10 pages in the query. In fact, I remember reading them, pushing my chair away from my desk, and sitting in silence while the beauty of the language and the emotional resonance of the work washed over me. I was completely awed, and remain so each time I read Cameron’s work. The story itself revolves around a teenage girl who is dealing with her best friend’s death by suicide. It is truly a love letter to friendships that span from childhood to adolescence, as well as a careful, honest, and resilient look at mental health.
You may find the Children’s Bookshelf announcement here, the Publishers Marketplace announcement here, AND we were lucky enough to have The Young Folks cover the announcement with a Q&A with the author herself! You can read that here.
I would encourage you to add THE STEPPING OFF PLACE to your Goodreads TBR.
